Fall is undoubtedly my favorite season for fashion. A multitude of trends are born or resurrected every autumn season. That is the beauty of fashion, veteran staple pieces that faithfully comeback for decades are met with some rookie fresh fabrics to give your wardrobe the ultimate victory. I'm here to show and tell you some trends for this fall 2023 season. Take notes fellow fashion peers.
red. Red. RED.
There are color palettes that always return every autumn season. Shades of emerald and evergreen, dark neutral tones, and all the deep blues. Let's focus on the color that everyone is raving about...RED!
From runways to street style, the color red had been highlighted as the color of the season!
Many have contributed to this trend by wearing red moto jackets, red boots and heels, and chic vibrant handbags. TikTok content creator, Mikayla "Fashion Major" Stephenson, shows a how we can incorporate this trend into our closets (click here to see). I encourage you to add a couple red pieces into your fall wardrobe formula and see the multiple outfits you'll create.
Ballet Core, But Make It Fall
In recent history, a.k.a. last spring, the ballet core trend was everywhere on runways, content creator's social media pages, and maybe even your closet.
You can usually identify this trend by spotting Miu Miu flats with knee high socks, bolero shrugs, and leg warmers.
This trend was adored by so many last spring, and I was curious to see if and how this trend would resurface for the fall/winter season. Conclusion, think swan princess turns black swan. The trend still has a very ethereal and delicate nature, but autumn has given it a dark metamorphosis. The versatility of this trend proves that this trend is here to stay for seasons to come!
Off The Shoulder
This trend brings back so many memories. I remember loving this trend in high school and my early college days and loving the silhouette that it would give me. I'm so glad this trend is resurfacing! Many retailers and content creators have been styling this trend for the fall by showing off off-the-shoulder sweaters and sweater dresses.
I adore the chic monochromatic outfits that match an off-the-shoulder sweater with a pair of wide-leg trousers.
The look gives a professional, sophisticated appearance that are perfect for the office or for a fall date night. This is a timeless trend that seems to continuously comeback season after season and year after year. Loosen up and give this trend a try!
Flat Shoes for Fall
Pros and cons of wearing heels: they're perennial but possibly painful. If you are not one to endure the truth on this alliteration, and sporting some sneakers are not successful sufficing your look, this is the trend for you! Loafers have always been a fall favorite, but adding ballet flats into the mix gives the flat shoes trend more of claim to become the shoe sovereign.
Now, flats have been very controversial this season because of flashbacks from decades passed.
The key is to not bring out your old early 2000s flats. Modernize them by looking into Mary Jane flats or some Miu Miu like flats that were referenced in the ballet core trend above. As for loafers, be optimistic by seeking loafers with a bit of a platform style. The small details changes are common sense in revolutionizing your look.
