Trend Alert: Fashion Edition | Fall 2022

It feels good to be back and writing again!

Hello everybody! I hope the year is treating you well and that you’ve had a great summer, but now it is time for one of my favorite seasons for fashion…

Fall fashion is definitely one of the most exciting times to reset your closet and to get ready for the colder months yet to come. Your wardrobe takes a turn in colors and of course getting in tune with layering again.

But what’s trending right now?

How can you add your own personal spin to trends that are happening at the moment?

Here are six trends that I am loving for the upcoming fall, and winter, months and some ideas on how to style them into your wardrobe.

Rain + Mid-Calf Boots

Let’s start off with some shoes! Rain boots and mid-calf boots are actually a returning trend from last year. Some are saying that this trend might be an even bigger impact this time around.

Do you remember in the early 2010 when hunter boots were all over social media?! I feel like this trend is giving the Hunter boots trend a resurface back into modern fashion.

Stepping out in an all-black look, with these boots on, just makes you look like a bad b*tch! I am loving how rain boots are being paired with co-ords sets and a jacket (see image 3). This trend caters across a majority of the fashion aesthetic spectrum of styles. Definitely give this trend a shot!

School Girl/ Academia

Oh, the Academia and school-girl trend is always a staple for the autumn season. There are many different trends that fall under this category.

This aesthetic also brings to light popular trends like loafers, trousers, tennis skirts, co-ord blazer sets, and sweater vests.

There are so many things that you could do with this aesthetic for the fall. Utilize your button-down shirts, your pullover sweaters, trench coats and maybe even some rain boots *wink*. This trend is so fun and so cute and definitely brings out your inner Gossip Girl style. Fall is definitely the season to go all out for this trend.

Cargo Pants

Cargo pants is a trend that has no time of stopping soon. Many have supported this trend during the summer and have paired them with a solid-colored top and your choice of white sneakers or combat boots. Some people spice it up by having the cargo pants be part of a co-ord set or add accessories like utility or chain belts.

Cargo pants were great to style in the summer but are great during the fall and winter too. I love to wear leggings underneath cargo pants on more colder days since there’s so much room to layer.

Get a plain pair of black or beige cargo pants for easy styling, or if you’re daring maybe go for a crazier color, a looser pair, or one with more pockets. Either way cargo pants are definitely becoming a staple in modern day closets and maybe yours if you haven’t already.

Faux Leather Everything

Faux leather is nothing new for the fall time, but recently it is definitely coming in hot. I love the many colors and textures that different pieces of faux leather clothing can add to an outfit. I’m actually in search of a brown faux leather jacket like the one in the second image.

In fact, a go-to fall look that I love to wear is some black leather pants, my black combat boots, and an oversized pullover sweater.

Whether you’re doing the classic leather pants or a leather jacket or maybe you’re playing around with different shades or different accessories, leather it’s definitely the way to go for make a statement to your outfit.

Coach Jackets + Puffer Coats

Puffer coats have definitely been a staple for the fall and winter for a while now. I mean are you even from New York if you don’t have a black puffer coat?!

Many people went crazy with the different colors and making sure the puffiness of your coat was equal to a giant marshmallow.

I promise they are not going anymore soon. We’ve obviously seen puffer coats come out every fall and winter, but there is a new addition to the athlete aesthetic of jackets. Just like how varsity jackets and bomber jackets dominated outerwear trends for the fall we can now adding coach jackets to the collection.

Coach jackets are found usually having snap buttons and with collared neck.

It can be a lighter jacket or a thick, waterproof material. They’re a great piece to your closet and is a great transition from piece from summer to fall. Make sure to check these outerwear trends out!

Soft Grudge

This trend continues to get bigger every year. The soft grunge trend has many subcategories including cottage core mixed with biker mixed skater styles together.

This trend incorporates pieces like cargo pants, denim miniskirts, combat boots, fishnet stockings and long skirts.

Think about early 2000s trendsetter resurfacing and 90s trends that are heavily contributing to this style. I'm seeing long cargo skirts, microskirts, low-rise pants, and so many band tees. I love seeing the outfits that people put together for this trend! I’m waiting to see the new additions to the trend for the upcoming season.
